Stunning View (the “Extension”) is a Chrome new-tab extension published by Stunning View (“we”, “us”). We built it to be private by design: your settings and browsing data stay on your device, and we do not run analytics or maintain user accounts. This policy explains exactly what the Extension can access, what it does with it, and the one case in which data leaves your browser.

1. The short version

2. What the Extension can access

Chrome requires every extension to declare the permissions it uses. Below is each permission Stunning View requests, why it is needed, and where the data goes.

PermissionWhy we use itWhere the data goes
storage Save your settings (chosen wallpaper or shuffle/daily mode, clock format, your greeting name, selected search engine, and which top-site tiles you’ve hidden). Stored locally on your device via chrome.storage.local. Never sent to us.
topSites Display your most-visited sites as quick-launch tiles on the new tab. Read from your browser and rendered locally. Never transmitted or stored by us.
favicon Show the correct site icon on each top-site tile. Icons are resolved by your browser. Never transmitted to us.
webNavigation Detect when an address-bar search lands on our default search page, so we can forward it to a different engine if you chose one. Used in-browser only, in real time. We do not log or store the URLs you visit.

The Extension changes your browser’s default search provider to Stunning Search (stunningsearch.com). This means searches you type in the address bar or the new-tab search box are, by default, handled by Stunning Search — and the search terms you type are sent to it in order to return results, the same way any default search engine works.

You are in control of which engine handles your searches:

You can change or remove the default search engine at any time in Chrome under Settings → Search engine, or by removing the Extension.

4. Wallpapers & offline use

All wallpapers ship inside the Extension package. Displaying them does not require a network connection and does not involve any request to us or to third parties. The new tab works fully offline.

5. Data we do not collect

To be explicit, Stunning View does not collect or process any of the following:

The optional greeting name you may enter is stored only in your local browser storage so the new tab can greet you. It is never transmitted.

6. Third-party services

The Extension does not embed third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only external interaction is the search request described in Section 3, which is initiated by you when you search and is governed by the receiving search engine’s privacy policy.

7. Children’s privacy

The Extension is a general-audience product and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

8. Data retention & deletion

Because your data is stored only in your browser, you remain in full control of it. You can clear it at any time by removing the Extension, or by clearing the Extension’s storage through Chrome. Uninstalling the Extension removes its locally stored settings.

9. Security

Since the Extension keeps your data on your device and does not transmit it to our servers, your information is protected by your browser’s and operating system’s own security. We recommend keeping Chrome up to date.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Extension or to legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, note them on this page. Continued use of the Extension after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. Because we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers, in practice there is nothing on our side to access or delete — your data lives on your device and is yours to manage or remove. If you have questions about this, contact us below.
